Privacy Policy & End User License Agreement for EduWand

Last updated: May 2025. EduWand is operated by LessonForge EdTech (India).

1. Introduction and Scope

This Privacy Policy and End User License Agreement (“Agreement”) outlines how EduWand collects, uses, and protects the personal information of students, teachers, parents, and school administrators using our AI-powered educational platform. This Agreement is governed by Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA). Schools outside India may be subject to additional local regulations; please contact us if you require jurisdiction-specific clarification.

2. Information Collection and Consent

We adhere to the principle of data minimisation, collecting only the minimum personal information necessary to provide our educational services.

Students Under 18: We do not collect personal information from minors without the consent of the school acting on behalf of parents or guardians. Schools are responsible for obtaining appropriate parental consent before enrolling students on the platform.

Information Collected: We collect essential account and educational records, which may include names, contact details, assignment submissions, grades, and engagement metadata needed for the platform to function. We do not collect sensitive personal data as defined under the DPDPA unless explicitly required and consented to.

3. Use of Information

We use personal information strictly for school-authorised educational purposes.

  • We strictly prohibit the use of student data for commercial purposes, behavioural profiling, or targeted advertising.
  • De-identified or anonymised data (where all direct and indirect identifiers are removed) may be used to improve our AI services.
  • AI-generated content (lesson plans, assignments, feedback) produced using our platform is owned by the school or teacher who created it. LessonForge EdTech claims no ownership over your content.

4. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell student personal information. We may share data with trusted third-party service providers (sub-processors) solely to deliver our educational services — including cloud infrastructure and AI model providers. All third parties are contractually bound to adhere to the same strict privacy, security, and purpose-limitation rules, and are prohibited from using the data for their own secondary purposes.

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse.

  • Passwords are stored using industry-standard one-way hashing (bcrypt).
  • Data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
  • Role-based access controls ensure users can only access data relevant to their role.
  • Our platform defaults to the most protective privacy settings automatically.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the authorised educational purpose or as required by our agreement with the school.

  • Upon termination of the school's account or on written request, we will securely delete or permanently de-identify the data within 30 days.
  • Schools may request a copy of their data or confirmation of deletion by contacting us at the address below.

7. Parental and Student Rights

Under the DPDPA, Data Principals (students, parents, or their nominees) have the right to access, correct, or request erasure of their personal data. Requests are handled through the school in the first instance. Direct requests may be submitted to our Grievance Officer at the contact details below. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.

8. Grievance Redressal

In accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, LessonForge EdTech has appointed a Grievance Officer to address privacy-related concerns.

Grievance Officer: LessonForge Privacy Team
Email: IR@lessonforge.in
Response time: We aim to acknowledge all grievances within 48 hours and resolve them within 30 days of receipt.

9. Agreement and Intellectual Property

By clicking “I Accept”, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy and End User License Agreement. Your acceptance is recorded with a timestamp for compliance and audit purposes.

The EduWand platform, its software, branding, and underlying AI systems are the intellectual property of LessonForge EdTech.
